Privatisation to blame, not workers!

Following the recent revelations that the Southern Health Trust has received 15 accusations of ‘ill treatment’ by home help workers, Socialist Party representative Pat Lawlor has stated that privatisation is the problem, not workers.

"You call this cuts - I'm not scared to say cuts... The amount of money available to the NHS is decided by the government. We will have less money to meet rising demands... There are hard decisions to be made. I have to balance the books."

That was the £140,000 a year chief executive of North Central London NHS (NCL) trying to explain to 350 people at a protest meeting why NCL were discussing seven different "scenarios" to cut £560 million from its £2.27 billion budget by 2016-17

Belfast Health Trust challenged to reveal cuts

In a letter sent to the editor the Socialist Party have challenged the Belfast Health Trust to reveal the cuts to health services.

Dear editor,

The Belfast HSSC Trust has attempted to deny claims by the Socialist Party that the rehabilitation services provided at the Elliot Dynes Unit of the Royal Hospitals are not being cut. This is empty rhetoric.

FURTHER HEALTH CUTS REVEALED

It can now be revealed that 6 more beds have been axed from cardio-vascular surgery services at the Royal Victoria Hospital, bringing recent bed losses in this unit to 12. West Belfast Socialist Party representative Pat Lawlor said these cuts will have a "serious impact on the standard of living of those waiting for surgery of this nature."

Assembly cuts responsible for closure of Unit at the Royal Hospitals

It can be exclusively revealed that the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust has imminent plans to close the Elliot Dynes Regional Rehabilitation Centre at the Royal Hospitals. Pat Lawlor, West Belfast Socialist Party representative, described the move as "part of a series of stealth attacks on the health service".
